Awareness Campaign – New Health Cards Display Patients’ Preferred Official Language

Manitoba’s new bilingual health cards now indicate each patient’s official language preference: French or English. This is an important tool that allows us to better welcome and refer French-speaking patients accessing health and social services.
When you see “French” indicated on a patient’s health card, consider making an Active Offer and recording this preference in their file. It’s a simple act that builds trust, reduces anxiety and improves outcomes.
This initiative aligns with the provincial “Différence en français” campaign: our collective effort to provide equitable and respectful care and strengthen French-language health services across the province.
Make a difference in your patients’ lives today.
