Clinical Practice Issue

Reports of frequent Air in Line (AIL) alarms during blood administration with B Braun Infusomat Pump that interferes with timely blood administration to patient.

Solution to address issue

Use of the Infusomat Space Pump Y-Type Blood Set- Ref 363419 (SH-SS SKU 91358) with Anti-Siphon Valve (ASV) left on has decreased the frequency of AIL alarms for blood administration. Product is available to order through SH-SS Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Clinical consideration
