Blackout By-Election Period
The Province of Manitoba has called a by-election for the Transcona riding effective February 18, 2025 to March 18, 2025. Pursuant to the Elections Financing Act we are now in a “media blackout” period. All advertising is under restriction during this time. Southern Health-Santé Sud must not advertise, promote, or publish any information about its programs or activities. This includes “sharing our stories” with media, being photographed by media for any purposes, such as receiving cheques, profiling capital projects, etc.
Exceptions include:
- where advertising is ‘in continuation of earlier advertisements or publications and is required at that time for ongoing programs …”
- where changes to programs/services have a ‘patient-safety consideration’ or potential impact on patient/client well-being
- In compliance to and in interpreting the above, Southern Health-Santé Sud will action the following as deemed appropriate.
- Media inquiries
- Written, in-person or virtual information sharing with impacted groups and stakeholders related to workforce or service transitions.
- In-person and virtual meetings via existing channels with external audiences where no new information is being shared.
- Communications that are required by law and support normal operations including:
- Public health or safety reasons
- Advertising or promoting job postings
- Meetings or engagements required to gather data, reports and other information related to ongoing operations are still appropriate without introducing new policy, program or funding announcements.
If you are unsure at any point or have any questions regarding the parameters of the restrictions on government advertising, please contact via or 204-424-2329
