Facilities are requested to complete the Disaster Management Training and Exercise Tracker with any education, training and exercises completed at the facility on the Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness plans, task sheets and processes from January 1, 2023 until now and forward to DisasterManagement@southernhealth.ca.

There have been edits to the Disaster Management Training and Exercise Tracker. Sites may use the form they are currently using for the rest of the current year or if able, use the Disaster Management Training and Exercise Tracker. The Exercise Tracker is available on the Portal>Administrative Library>Disaster Management> Other Resources>Disaster Management Exercise Tracker.

The minimum information required for records are the date of the exercise, debrief and recommendations from the exercise as well as the status of the recommendations. Exercise participation needs to be recorded as well. This information must be retained for three years.

Please enter the information on Code Red/Fire Drills completed this calendar year, along with any simulated evacuation drills, any table top exercises or other training and mock/full scale exercise at the site.

Once you enter the completed fire drills and any full scale/mock, tabletop exercise, or other training on the tracker, please email to Jolene Dayholos, the Emergency Preparedness Specialist at DisasterManagement@southernhealth.ca by Thursday, September 5th.

If facilities are needing assistance completing the training, please connect with the Emergency Preparedness Specialist and we can see if we are able to assist with facilitating educations or training.

Acute and Long Term Care facilities are required to complete the following training:

  • One fire drill on a monthly basis. Long term care facilities must have every employee participate in a minimum of one drill per year.
  • An annual evacuation drill to be held for every shift.
  • One part of the emergency plans exercised per quarter
  • Long term care facilities are required to exercise all components of the response plans every three years.
  • Sites are requested to complete yearly education on the emergency plans and codes based on the threats identified by the Hazard, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment on their facility as per the Emergency Plan Training Schedule.
