Southern Health-Santé Sud is pleased to participate and host the Discover Health Careers Manitoba (DHCM) program (previously known as the Home for the Summer program), in partnership with Health Care Retention and Recruitment Office (HCRRO).

Employer Information

The DHCM program offers summer employment to post-secondary students, providing hands-on experience both in the hospital environment and with patient interactions. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about Southern Health-Santé Sud, work alongside trained health care providers and enhance their knowledge and skills in their area of study.

Program Information

  • Take a moment to review the policy
  • HCRRO has capped the number of weeks a nursing/allied health student may work within this program to 10 weeks
  • approved positions (by HCRRO) will be reimbursed 50% of the students employment costs (this includes EI, CPP, etc) to a maximum of $25/hour. If you choose to pay the students more than this, you will be responsible for paying 100% of the salary costs over $25/hour.
    • You will receive a confirmation letter / email from the HCRRO office letting you know which positions have been approved. You are then welcome to communicate with the students who have shown interest in your region / sites to let them know about opportunities and how they can go about applying / interviewing for these positions.
