Intravenous Immune Globulin (IVIG)-Clinical Practice Tips and Tubing Change
The Southern Health-Santé Sud (SH-SS) poster below includes clinical practice tips for the administration of Intravenous Immune Globulin (IVIG) collected based on consultation with provincial clinical subject matter experts (SMEs). The poster has been created with input from SH-SS Staff Development.
Regarding IVIG tubing, Shared Health (SH) Supply Chain Management Shared Services has communicated an upcoming change with the tubing used for IVIG administration. The 8250718SP (global set) and 835817SP (Cyto Set-Cancer Care) tubing sets are in the process of being provincially phased out. Once existing stock is used up, provincial clinical SMEs recommend using tubing 363904 (straight set/port-less) as the first option for IVIG administration and tubing 363430 (primary-3 ports) as an alternate if needed. These tubing recommendations are also included on the attached poster.
