Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) | Full Provider Course (BTHC)
ACLS Provider course is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team management of a cardiac arrest, team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. Specific skills in airway management and related pharmacology are also featured. Skills are taught through discussion and group learning, while testing stations offer case-based scenarios using simulators.
Successful participants will be acknowledged as ACLS Providers by the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
Course Content:
- recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest
- systematic approach to pediatric assessment
- effective respiratory management
- validation of skills for one-person and two-person CPR and AED skills for infants and children
- defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
- intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration
- effective resuscitation team dynamics
Who should attend: designed for health care professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units.
Held in the Multipurpose Room
- Full Provider (2-day) ACLS courses are intended for participants who have never taken ACLS before or participants whose ACLS certification has expired. Participants who have a current ACLS certification are welcome to attend a Full Provider course again should they require the additional training.
- 1-day ACLS renewal course is required every 2 years.
- The prerequisite for ACLS is a current HSFC BLS for Health Care Provider (C) card.

**If a nurse has taken ACLS before, their ACLS certification is still current and they choose to re-take the Full Provider course, they will only be covered the equivalent of an ACLS Renewal course ($175 of the course fee and paid for time in attendance of day 2 only) by Specialized Nursing Skills (SNS).
Preference will be given to Southern Health-Santé Sud employees and Affiliate sites within Southern Health-Santé Sud.
MNU and MNU-related Southern Health-Santé Sud employees working in Emergency/ICU taking ACLS for the first time:
Registration Fee: no charge (SNS covers if participant is successful)
Southern Health-Santé Sud Employees (including SH-SS Physicians):
Registration Fee: $225
Non-Southern Health-Santé Sud participants:
Registration Fee: $325
Registration includes ACLS Provider textbook (if requested), indirect ACLS fees for the course.

Regional Course Cancellation Policy
In the event of written cancellation received (3) weeks before the course, the registration fee will be refunded minus a $25 administration fee. No refunds will be issued after that date.
Registration closes 3 weeks prior to the course. Courses often have waitlists and therefore, participants who are registered for the course are asked to please ensure they are able to attend and if they need to withdraw, to do so 3 weeks prior to the course so that a participant on the waitlist can attend in their place.
Important Course Postponement Information
It is important to include your personal home/cell # and personal email when registering for education sessions so that you may be reached in the rare instance of last-minute course cancellation/postponements.
In the case of inclement weather on the morning of any regional education session, please call 204-422-3106 to check if your education session has been postponed due to inclement weather.
