Training in Test of Texture Modified Diets (TTMD-R) | Refresher for Meal Screeners (HCAs)
Intended for pch sites that wish to have HCAs trained in the administration of Part I: A, B and C – Feeding and Swallowing Screen Form of the TTMD-R.
In compliance with the Manitoba Health Guidelines and Policy NS-2445.000 Personal Care Home Safe Feeding and Swallowing Program, the participant will review the training on TTMD-R Part I: A, B and C – Feeding and Swallowing Screening Form and when to refer to a trained TTMD-R Facilitator. Discussion will also include an overview of the Policy NS-2445.000, normal and abnormal swallowing, diet texture modifications/consistencies, liquid viscosities, safe feeding strategies, and signs/symptoms of aspiration.
TTMD-R Facilitators and Meal Screeners must complete testing and screening education prior to administering the test, or screening, and then every two years. Education is provided by a speech-language pathologist (SLP), and ideally, a dietitian provides education about texture modification.
Who should attend: HCAs working in pch’s who are new to TTMD-R training or who have previously taken TTMD training and require a refresher.
Held virtually via TEAMS
HCAs who attend this course will not be trained as official TTMD-R Facilitators, but will be able to complete the screening portion of the TTMD-R.
