Vaccinations are recommended for health care workers to protect their own health and to prevent the spread of communicable diseases between staff, patients/clients/residents, and family and friends. The new Provincial Immunization Policy outlines the recommended vaccines for all staff, and shares the process that must be followed for new hires and if an employee opts out of receiving a vaccination.

Immunizations continue to be made available, at no cost, to all staff who want them. We invite you to download the Employee Immunization Learning Package which covers the benefits of vaccinations, common vaccine preventable communicable diseases staff may come into contact with in the workplace, and the risks of not getting vaccinated.

If you have any questions regarding the new policy, please reach out to Director – Staff Development, Infection Prevention and Control, Debbie Rigaux, or Regional Occupational Health Nurse, Breanne Dueck, .
