As part of our ongoing efforts to align with Shared Health provincial standards, we are updating the name of our Safe Client Handling and Injury Prevention Program to the Safe Patient Handling Program.

In addition to the name change, we will begin adopting provincial Safe Work Procedures relating to safe patient handling practices to ensure consistency, and support best practices across sites and regions.

Please note:

• No immediate training is required
• Training will continue as scheduled, and any updates will be integrated into regular sessions moving forward
• Southern Health-Santé Sud will continue to use existing Safe Work Procedures where a provincial version does not exist

Despite these changes, the program’s goals remain the same: to prevent injuries and improve safety during patient handling tasks.

Please ensure all future references, communication and training materials reflect the new program name. Revised templates and supporting documents will be available in the coming weeks.
