Staff Announcement | Acute Care Supervisors
Recently, Southern Health-Santé Sud has begun to hire Acute Care Supervisors to cover on site part time evening and weekends.
Boundary Trails Health Centre welcomed Ariel Wilcox to the positions on September 29, 2025 and we are excited to announce that Ethel Salvanera will be starting in this role at Bethesda Regional Health Centre as of October 23, 2025. There will be three Acute Care Supervisors for the region to make up the 7 day a week coverage: 0.6 at Boundary Trails, 0.5 at Bethesda and 0.5 at Portage. Recruitment for the Acute Supervisor out of Portage is ongoing.
For clinical unit staff the number to call will remain the same, 204-331-8997. On evenings (1545-2400) and weekends (0700-1915) your calls will be handled by the Acute Care Supervisor. The Acute Care Supervisor will involve the appropriate acute care manager on call as needed.
This newly integrated role will:
- Direct and coordinate nursing and other patient service activities during the evening and/or weekends in a manner that will ensure optimal care to patients in Southern Health-Santé Sud Regional and Community acute care facilities.
- Direct and coordinate staff during the evenings and weekends to optimize service delivery in units/sites or programs.
- Remain on call for duration of shift as manager on call.
- Have the authority to request any program/department to provide service(s) considered necessary to the care of patients and their families.
- Initiate callback of standby staff for the various clinical programs/services.
- Reassign staff amongst departments and sites.
- Be responsible for the safe administration and operation of clinical services
- Ensure strong communication pathways between managers, scheduling and service delivery leads.
- Participate in portfolio/facility/regional team structure.
- Develop and maintain functional relationships with other departments/programs.
