Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) | Carman
Mental Health First Aid Canada teaches first aid skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or is experiencing a mental health crisis. In 12 hours, you will learn:
- Signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and crisis situations
- Basic actions for mental health first aid
- Information about effective interventions and treatments
- How to access help and resources
- Mental Health Problems – Crisis Situations
- Substance Related Disorders – Overdose
- Depression – Suicidal Behaviours
- Anxiety Disorders – Pannic Attachs/Acute Stress Reaction
- Psychosis – Acute Psychotic
Who should attend: all staff
The Mental Health Commission of Canada reports that one in every five Canadians experiences a mental health problem within a given year. While we often know a lot about physical illness, there tends to be less knowledge about mental health or substance use problems.
Note to Participants
- Please arrive 15 minutes early for registration.
- No registration fee for Southern Health-Santé Sud staff for this course.
- Participants are advised to bring their own lunch/snacks/drinks.
- Registration is limited and will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
- Registration closes (1) week prior to the session.
- Certificates provided to those who attend the entire 12 hours mentalhealthfirstaid.ca
