To ensure consistent and correct use of Medication Administration Record (MAR) as a permanent chart record which documents all medications given to the patient. Health care professionals must have the knowledge, competence and authorization to perform medication administration.

Recommendation(s)/Action Required:

• Staff at acute care facilities continuing to use hand-written MARs to print & use MARS with updated legend.
• Staff at all acute care facilities to review policy published on StaffNET and print as needed.
• Acute care facilities using cMAR to print and use final approved cMAR documents from StaffNET (staff education has occurred during implementation).
