Work From Home

We have been working on a work from home/return to work approach that considers both the unique needs of our various departments and feedback received from you and your co-workers in response to surveys conducted throughout the pandemic.

For eligible positions, the work from home model adopted in response to COVID-19 has proven to work well, contributing to recruitment and retention efforts, while maintaining workforce productivity. It is our intention, as we return to more normalized operations, to continue offering a Work from Home Program for eligible staff.

While there is no immediate change to current work from home arrangements, we can provide the following overview of program criteria under active consideration:  

  • Must be operationally feasible and role eligible
  • Does not negatively affect care
  • Is based on employee performance
  • Contributes to no additional cost to the system
  • Is reassessed on an annual basis
  • Staff not eligible for the program will be provided a minimum of four (4) weeks advance notice. Limited exceptions to this notice period may be made in the event situations arise where staff are required to report to work to perform duties that can no longer be performed remotely.
  • Management reserves the right to end the program with four week’s notice, except under exceptional circumstances.

While a standard program has been developed, slight variations on how the program is deployed across service delivery organizations may occur due to unique operational requirements, role eligibility and staff performance.  This program will be offered to both union and non-union staff, based on role eligibility.

Next Steps

Staff will be provided with additional program details, with application forms made available for eligible staff.

Any staff who wish to return to the workplace, either permanently or on an as-needed basis, may do so provided that all workplace health protocols are followed at all times.
