Environmental Services

Environmental services:

  • provide and maintain the highest possible cleaning/disinfecting and laundering standards
  • housekeeping and laundry operational practices work towards fully complying with current Accreditation Standards, Infection Prevention & Control Guidelines and Manitoba Health Standards
  • environmental services work closely with all departments, providing and meeting our clients’ needs
  • hours of operation vary from facility to facility, but operate seven days a week

Housekeeping

responsible for cleaning all areas of the facility, including:

  • post discharge cleaning
  • terminal cleaning
  • client room cleaning
  • maintenance of floors, carpets, curtains (including all bedside curtains on the wards) and blinds
  • offices (including wiping down all counters, desks and phones)
  • specialized areas (i.e. operating rooms, special precaution patient rooms, etc.)
  • waste removal (including removal of sharps)

New products, techniques, best practices and technologies are always being reviewed and tested to aid our staff in providing the highest level of service and quality.

Some equipment utilized: ride-on floor washer, floor washers, walk-behind floor burnishers, microfiber mopping system and dusters

Laundry

responsible for the efficient, safe and sanitary processing and distribution of laundry and linen supplies

  • many sites process, label, distribute and mend linen for other facilities/community business in the region
  • responsible for processing, labelling client’s personal clothing in our personal care homes
  • new products, techniques, best practice and technologies are always being reviewed and tested to aid our staff in providing the highest level of service and quality
