In November 2018, Menno Home initiated a Yellow Belt Lean Project to focus on improving the elder move-in experience. The team focused on making the process more person-centered, efficient, less wasteful and less stressful for everyone who participates in it. Our main goal was to understand this complex process fully and how it affects elders, their families and staff. We then identified where the problems spots were and made a plan to implement simple inexpensive changes to address the issues. As a result of this initiative, the move-in process is now easier for staff to work with, it is faster, there are less deficiencies, less wasted time and effort and most importantly it now focuses on the person first and not the paperwork.
